The Northern Beaches Chorus is one of hundreds of choruses around the world that make up the Sweet Adelines International organization of over 25,000 women who sing four-part a cappella barbershop harmony. Musical knowledge is not necessary to join — voice training and music education are valuable components of member’s benefits. Any woman of average singing ability, with or without vocal training, will find a part that fits her voice range with the help of Sweet Adelines International directors and section leaders. Under the direction of Linda Wareham, the 75-voices strong Northern Beaches Chorus performs regularly throughout the community, entertaining audiences at corporate and civic events and charitable functions. On the beaches, they are well known for their Christmas minstrel singing and shows in shopping centres and at Dee Why RSL. In 2010, we won the Show Choir category in the McDonald's Performing Arts Contest, achieved the 5th place medal and Most Improved Chorus in the National Sweet Adelines Contest, held in WA. We also were guest artists at the 18th World Rugby Golden Oldies Festival held in Centennial Park, Sydney. A feature of the Chorus is a range of a cappella Quartets, which can be packaged with the Chorus production to add variety. This adds another dimension to the choral experience for those members who wish to up the ante! More information on the Chorus is available on our website www.northernbeacheschorus.com.au and Facebook page.
