The Cyrenes is an a cappella choir of women from Canberra. It was founded in 1989 and was one of the first women's community choirs in Canberra. The Cyrenes aim to create a safe, supportive and fun environment where women connect with each other through music.

Our underlying philosophy is that singing is part of the joy and well-being of life; that everyone can sing, and has something to contribute. We love creating beautiful and vibrant harmony. The Cyrenes have a repertoire of meaningful and powerful songs, including some songs just for fun!

The choir welcomes new members - visit our 'Become a member' page on our website. There are no auditions, and no previous singing or performance experience is necessary. We rehearse on Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm.

The choir has released two CDs, For the Love of It and Diving for Pearls. Listen to sample songs from our CDs on our website.

Our musical director is Johanna McBride. Johanna has extensive experience as a conductor, accompanist and musical director.
