The Darwin Chorale is a 50-voice (more or less) community choir, auditioned for inclusion rather than exclusion. We have just presented a pre-Christmas concert including Britten's Ceremony of Carols in SATB form, and Rutter's Gloria, among other carols. As well as performing for civic functions such as the Bombing-of-Darwin Commemmoration, the annual Anzac Day and Police Remembrance Services etc, the Choir mounts an annual program of about four themed or selected repertoire concerts at easter, Mid-year, around Darwin Festival time and pre-Christmas. Many pieces are sung acappella, but some concerts are shared with the Darwin Symphony Orchestra, when large works are sung with orchestral accompaniment, such as the Polovetsian Dances, or opera choruses.
