We regularly perform three major concerts each year, usually scheduled for May, August and December. Professional soloists accompany the choir for most concerts.
In November 2008, HCS in conjunction with the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Matthew Toogood, undertook an inaugural interstate tour to perform Handel’s Messiah in regional Victoria and South Australia. By (very) popular demand, the choir repeated this tour in 2009.
In addition, HCS is available year round for one hour performances of a capella European sacred music. These performances serve as a mutual fundraising venture for HCS and charities and churches throughout Victoria.
Peter Bandy is the Artistic Director and Conductor. Peter was appointed in September 2010 replacing Matthew Toogood who has taken up a position in Germany. Peter was a guest conductor in 2010 for our performance of Mendelssohn's Saint Paul oratorio.
The choir consists of soprano, alto, tenor and bass and currently has approximately 90 members.
