Beating Time

Beating Time began 23 years ago under the name of Sydney U3A choir until it became an incorporated body in its own right and, in 2015, changed its name to Beating Time.

It is an unauditioned choir of enthusiastic seniors who sing a variety of musical styles and strive for excellence in performance under the expert leadership of its Director of Music, Margot McLaughlin who  was appointed in February, 2015.  Margot has over 40 years’ experience as a chorister, choral trainer and conductor and is highly respected in the Sydney music scene for her work with several prestigious choirs.  Margot is assisted by pianist and assistant conductor, Rachel Collis, a singer and composer, who joined the choir in 2017.

As part of its Outreach program the choir gives several performances a year at Retirement villages and nursing homes as well as singing for Meals on Wheels luncheons and at Citizenship ceremonies.

The members firmly believe that singing together brings great health benefits, both mental and physical as well as providing a friendly social activity.
